Summer’s over, now what?

We’ve begun that time of year with a certain melancholic feeling to it. Fall.

It’s that time of year when everything around us begins to change. Long, bright days transition to shorter, darker ones. The sunny days shift to days full of fog and rain. The green of the mountains and trees transform into reds, oranges, and yellows. The changing seasons remind us of the cycles of life, and how we must find ways to adapt and enjoy it.

But just because summer is over doesn't mean we can't make the most of this new season; the fall also has countless things to do and endless reasons to fall in love with each moment.

Think about it: what other time of the year smells like roasted chestnuts and tastes like pumpkin spice? In what other season can you carve pumpkins while you listen to each movement of the wind, and feel the warmth of a cozy blanket as you snuggle up with your favorite hot drink?

Fall may not be summer, but it kicks off sweater weather. It’s the time when we do just that: embrace the cozy, relax, and find joy in the little things.

So, if you’re staying home as you adjust to the changing of the season or if you're one of those people who can’t wait for the fall vibes, don’t miss this list of fun fall things to do in the coming months. Let’s bring in the fall vibes!

Things to do in the fall:

  • Take fall photos

  • Bake sweet treats: Pumpkin/apple/pecan pie, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, bread pudding, snickerdoodles, cinnamon rolls, etc.

  • Snuggle up on the couch with your favorite blanket

  • Sip fall favorites at a local coffee shop: Culture Coffee just announced their fall favorites! Put on your favorite scarf and go over and try The Holy Mole, Not Yo Mamas Pumpkin, or The Fig Around N Find Out

  • Learn New Traditions: Cielito Lindo in West Valley City is hosting their first Day of the Dead Paint Night at the coffee shop on October 28th. • Watch a sunset with that special fall light at Liberty Park: By mid-October the trees in Liberty Park turn bright amber and red, making you feel the fall atmosphere. Make a stop and visit Tracy Aviary — where the exotic birds create a perfect scene next to the fall leaves.

  • Organize your wardrobe with fall clothes: There’s no better time to have fun with your wardrobe. Wrap a cozy scarf around your neck, layer up with your favorite jacket or sweater, and finish the look with a pair of classic leather boots. Just like that, you’re fall-ready.

  • Listen to feel good music: Add to your music playlist some jazz tunes, blues, contemporary or Indy jams to bring in the fall vibe.

  • Visit your favorite local bookstore for new reads
