Community Spotlight: Little free pantries and fridges
As the recent government shutdown dragged on, families who relied on federal government food assistance found themselves in often-dire situations. With SNAP benefits running out, families around the country – and in Utah – had to turn to local and non-profit resources. On the Westside, community members stepped up, just as they always have.
Various neighborhoods on the Westside house little free pantries and fridges, available to anyone in need. Most locations operate on a ‘Take What You Need, Donate What You Can’ basis and are supported by members of the community. If you find yourself in need of food, feel free to check out one of the pantries/fridges, some of which are listed below. And if you find yourself feeling extra blessed – with food to spare – please consider donating to one of the local pantries, fridges, or food banks.
