Firefighter Challenge
Dubbed the ‘toughest two minutes in sports,’ the firefighter challenge held at the Utah State Fairpark in April 2025 brought together firefighters from 8 different states to participate in a series of challenges. The goal? To make it to the National TFT Firefighter Challenge Championship series.
Firefighters completed tasks such as throwing a 42-pound hose over their shoulders and running up five flights of stairs, hoisting another hose up from the ground once they reach the top, hitting a 160-pound anvil with a sledge hemmer from one side of a sled to the other, and then completing an obstacle course sprint that ended with target practice using a charged fire house. Finally, competitors drag 160-pound dummies more than 100 feet. Several Utah agencies competed, including Salt Lake City Fire, West Valley City Fire, and Unified Fire Authority, all of whom take care of the Westside.
