Rose Park neighborhood holds annual street festival
Hundreds turned up for the annual Rose Park Community Street Festival, held on May 16th along Picture Drive. There were informational and sales booths, live entertainment, and several food and dining options.
The Rose Park Community Council — which organizes the yearly event — thanked those who helped and attended the event. On Facebook, the council said, “We are grateful for the neighbors along Picture Drive for sharing their street with all of us for the day. And the Rose Park Stake Center [of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints] for use of the parking lot and gym area for our stage and social areas.”
The council also thanked the members of the neighborhood who take such pride in the place they call home. “We genuinely believe that we are stronger together, and hope to continue bringing people closer through cultural celebrations and social gatherings,” wrote the council.

Native American youth festival
The Salt Lake City School District hosted a festival honoring Native American students at the beginning of May.
Held on the field of Rose Park Elementary, the event featured booths, activities, entertainment, and even a teepee. The day was an important celebration of Native American culture, and served as the perfect opportunity for sharing that special culture with Utahns of all backgrounds.
The first Native American Youth Day was held in 2021 as part of the school district’s efforts to reconnect the local Native community following the COVID-19 pandemic. Those involved in the organization of the festival include the Native American Parent Committee, the Wisdom Keepers (Elders group), West High School, Rose Park Elementary, and the Rose Park Elementary Community Learning Center.
